Remarks: There were indeed an abundance of write-ups on 'green' awareness and initiatives by various organiztions and even fashion labels from the whole array of TIME magazing from the 2006-2008 issues and even found environmentally focused magazines.
However, we realised none were truely useful to relate to our three main green concepts nor any to do with events 'going green'.
On a mission to make our trip not a wasted one, we read through related reference books and noted down sveral notes. A few excerpts:
- The 3 main aims of the Singapore Green Plan
1) to ensure a quality living environment through the innovative and efficient use of scarce resources
2) to promote the active participation of all sectors of the population to sustain a quality living environment
3) to do their part for the global environment, because environmental degradation knows no boundary
Understanding some 'green' efforts by the local government level will help us in identifying some of the possible supports and/or limitation an event 'going green' will face.
Remarks: Event though our team do feel that the trip on a whole was not a resourceful one, but it did open our eyes to the many facets of environmental initiatives not only in Sinagpore, but also around the world which we believe will ultimately be useful in providing our report and analysis with more depth.
